Protests in Parliament and in the streets over impeachment of S Korea's President

Yesterday there was the news that South Korea's President had been impeached. Korean news services reported that 7 out of 10 South Koreans were against the impeachment and today there has been evidence of that. Protesters turned to the street against the move. The Korea Herald reports that 51-year-old Baek Eun-jeong, set himself and his car alight on the steps of the national parliament in protest of the impeachment - he is suffering burns to over 40 per cent of his body.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that riot squads faced the protestors to prevent them from worsening. Seoul Daily (www.seouldaily.com), on the other hand, has chosen to focus on South Korea's acting president's pledge to continue negotiations with North Korea and deployment iof troops to Iraq, in an article they syndicated from Reuters.

Only the BBC takes a closer look at the alleged mis-deeds by Roh and his aides, in a report that looks at the slush funds that his 3 aides were indicted over.

On a lighter note, from the BBC as well, this is avideo of the politicians brawling when the opposition overtook the speakers box to begin impeachment proceedings.
